Noe Valley Edwardian mansion (SF)

When this 4,500 sq. ft. Edwardian mansion came up for sale in 2015, the lower floor had long been converted into a doctor's office.  The original staircase leading to the well preserved second floor rooms started directly behind the front door, leaving no room for an entry.  We reorganized the lower floor layout around a centrally located curved stair topped by a six by ten foot skylight, bringing daylight  into the center of structure. On the upper level, four bedrooms are organized around a large central family room featuring the original coffered ceiling, repainted a deep peacock blue that matches the wall color.  Throughout the house we worked with a palette comprising of traditional materials in neutral tones juxtaposed with modern and mid century art and accents to create a vibrant and rich interior.
